a little cabin we like

we had a few days, and a few nights at the end of august, so we decided to check out this place we like.  we being myself, louie, wayne and mary.  time to get in a weekend of paddle time, fish time and awesomeville time.

they logged the road up, so some familiar landmarks were gone. but we still made it.

in the end, we got the cabin a bit later than usual, but it felt familiar right away.  we got everything set up and got comfy.  lots of wood waiting.  thanks to whomever left it.  we replaced it all and more.

The next day we explored the lake on foot and in the canoe and wayne kept us fed with rainbows.

while louie chopped wood.  thats his thing.

we did a little maintenance around the place, but most people who visit have been doing that too, so the place was in good shape.

after seeing some moose the night before, we took a tour of the lake to see if there was any signs of them.  it was a pretty cool evening and gave us 1 more reason to get out on the lake the next day.

later that evening we made a swedish fire log.  basically this...

it worked, after 2 hours.  we were a bit disappointed at first, as the fire wouldnt realy catch, but after a while it got really prime.  too bad we were done all our cooking by then.

verdict: swedish fire logs are awesome if you light them 2-3 hours before you need them.

the final day was cloudy but still awesome.  some more fishing and some cleaning then it was time to go.

a sweet visitor came by for a look

since there were 4 of us and only 1 canoe, it took some ferrying to get everyone back across.

once back to the truck side, we did a little exploring and a bit more chilling.

then it was time to go.  no fear... we will be back.  maybe for a winter mission.  you should come.

and thanks to mary for most of these pictures.
